February 27, 2021 — December 9, 2021

Kathryn Faye Hanes, who celebrated her 100th birthday this year, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Hill View.  Born on February 27, 1921 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Richard H. Kegley and Dora Carrington Kegley and was a proud member of Central Church of Christ and the Friendly Workers Class and the Double Nickle Club.

Kathryn graduated from Portsmouth High School in the class of 1941 and was very active on the Reunion Committee.  She retired from the former Williams Manufacturing Co. and was last employed at Community Action while in her 80’s.  Kathryn participated with the Shawnee Golden Bears Club.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Hanes, in 1995 a brother, Hobart H. Kegley and a sister, Goldia Tracy.

She loved life and touched many lives in her journey through this life.  She will always be remembered by her pleasant smile and uplifting spirit.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Mike (Cindy), Chip (Teri), Dee Dee, Vernita, Scott and Carla and very special friends who cared for her, Eloise White, Pam Adkins and Roma Ellis.

A service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 14th, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dennis Dawes officiating.

The family will receive guests at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Very special recognition is given to Alternative Nursing and Home Care, especially Mollie, and the loving care given by SOMC Hospice.
