Gerald E. Warnock, 91, of Hill View Retirement Center, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, in the SOMC Hospice Center with his son, Wayne, and daughter-in-law, Barbara, at his bedside. Born on March 23, 1931 in Greenup County, KY, he was a son of the late Raymond and Edith Gordon Warnock, and was a longtime member of the Sciotoville Christian Church, where he served as a deacon.
The majority of his working career was spent happily at Russell Glass Company, where he was treated as family.
He was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War.
Also preceding him in death were brothers Fred and Ray, and sisters Betty and Reba.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Betty Jean Horton Warnock; two sons, Gary (Maggie) Warnock and Wayne (Barbara) Warnock; a brother, Danny; a sister, Linda; four grandchildren, Jesse (Valerie), Megan (Tana), Nathan (Billie) and Jacob and great-grandchildren Shea, Sophia, Zayne, Nolan, Cameron, Hadley and Myles.
Smiley was kind to everyone he met and generously helped others whenever needed. He was passionate about creating works of art in stained glass and loved playing the harmonica. Gerald was a man of few words, but always had a huge smile, which earned him the nickname “Smiley”.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13th, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Brian Enz officiating.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
