William Flanagan

William E. Flanagan, 81, of Rosemount, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the SOMC Hospice Center.  Born on April 11, 1932 in Wheelersburg, he was a son of the late Paul and Roberta Chapman Flanagan and was a member of Dogwood Ridge First Church of Christ.  Bill was an Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict and retired from Martin-Marietta, after 41 years of service.  He was always also known for his love of people and telling silly jokes, and his drawings of pictures of clowns and giving them to people.  Also preceding him in death were two daughters, Pamela Garvin and Lana Martin, a brother, Robert Flanagan, and sisters Lib Fleshman and Hannah Bailey.  Surviving are his wife, Ruth Joseph Flanagan, a son, William Kelley Flanagan of Wheelersburg, a daughter, Denna Ricks of Sarahsville, and two grandsons, Zac Flanagan and Chad Cox.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Randy Wickham officiating.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion.  The family will receive friends at Brant’s from 5 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service.
