William E. Brewer,80, of Eden Park, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Born on January 10, 1943, in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late William E. Brewer, Sr. and Betty Roberts Brewer Bryant.
He was a retired guard for S.O.C.F. and a member of the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion.
A proud veteran, Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War and joined the National Guard upon his naval discharge.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Gary Brewer and Donald Bryant and four sisters, Sharon Kay Bryant, Kathy Bryant, Nancy Dunker and Brenda Bryant.
Surviving are his wife of nearing 60 years, Sandra Cook Brewer, two sons, Thomas Richard (Angela) Brewer of Franklin Furnace and William Joseph Brewer of Minford; a sister, Tommie Jo Bryant of Sunbury and two very special grandsons, Brandon Joseph Brewer and Clinton Thomas Brewer.
A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Debbie Hixon officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Honors will be rendered by the S.O.C.F. Honor Guard.
Memorial gifts may be made to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
The American flags, along with the U.S. Navy flag, will fly on the avenue in honor of our proud veteran, Bill Brewer.
