Wanda Kay Jarrell, 80, of Portsmouth, died Friday afternoon, May 9, 2025, in the SOMC Hospice Center, surrounded by her family. Born on July 20, 1944, in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Margaret Riddlebarger Schomburg and was a dedicated homemaker.
A graduate of Minford High School, she attended the former Shumway Hollow Free Will Baptist Church.
Also, preceding Wanda in death were her husband, Roy Jarrell, brothers, Donald Schomburg, Tom Schomburg and Maurice Schomburg, and a sister, Eda Mae Conkel.
Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Risner and Sherri (James) Fyffe, all of Portsmouth, two sisters, Ruth Nichols of South Charleston and Theda Aldridge of Portsmouth; five grandchildren, Jamie (Haley) Fyffe, Justin (Sabrina) Fyffe, Jill Fyffe, Chris Risner and Amanda Risner; and three great-granddaughters, Aubree Fyffe, Vanessa Gibson and Cheyenne Shephard.
A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14th, at the BRANT FUNERAL SERVICE IN SCIOTOVILLE. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
