Wanda Blevins

January 1, 1927 — May 28, 2015

Wanda Madge Blevins, 88, of New Boston, died Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center.  Born on January 1, 1927 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Ada Eaton Erwin and was a Licensed Practical Nurse.  She worked for many years at the former Southern Hills Hospital and also in Columbus. Wanda was a member of the Eastern Star and of the Baptist faith.  Her passions were auto racing and music, and she was very proud of being a special deputy with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department.

Also preceding her in death was her former husband, Leonard Ramey and a brother, Sam Erwin.

Surviving are her husband, William Blevins; two daughters, Sandra Maynard of Portsmouth and Connie Bracken of Cincinnati; three grandchildren, John Shepherd, Eric Green and Lara Green; four great-grandchildren, Evan, Ethan, and Elliott Shepherd and Jackson Green; and her sister, Garnet Charlton of Portsmouth.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Lakeside Church with Rev. Gerald Penix officiating.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive guests at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Memorial gifts may be sent to Sierra’s Haven.

Her friends will remember her kind spirit, her laughter, and her generosity.  Her family will remember her love and forgiveness.

In our memories and hearts, there will be an empty space.  Each tear we shed will cleanse us, each star we see will light us on our road to finding her again.

We will love you always---mother, grandma, and great-grandma.
