Virginia Samson

Virginia Kathryne Samson, 86, formerly of Sciotoville, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Greene Oaks Nursing Center in Xenia. Born March 3, 1924 in Cromona, KY, she was a daughter of the late Elisha and Anna Stapleton Howell, and was retired from Kresge’s in Portsmouth. Kate was a member of Berean Baptist Church and a former volunteer in the SOMC gift shop. Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Samson, a daughter, Sandy Rase, a brother, Cletis Howell, sisters Leona Watson, Delores Ferguson, Jeanette Stiles and Jackie Drudi, and a grandson, Marc Childress. Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Knisley of Xenia, six grandchildren, Jeff Rase, Chad Rase, Matthew Rase, Bonnie Carmack, John Rase, and Douglas Rase, and nine great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Seth Waggoner officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Sciotoville after 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
