July 5, 1926 — July 24, 2012

Virginia Kathryn Nourse, age 86, of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in her home at the Minford Retirement Center.

“Ginny” was born July 5th, 1926 in Sciotoville, Ohio as the daughter of the late William and Grace (Craycraft) Myers. She was a 1944 graduate of Portsmouth East High School. In 1946 she married Jesse Alton Scott, who preceded her in death on May 24, 1961. As a faithful mother she worked many jobs to support her two sons. She retired from her job as a Dental Assistant in 1981 to marry Bruce Franklin Nourse, who preceded her in death, January 14, 2012. Eight sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death. She was a faithful member of the Portsmouth Central Church of Christ and worshipped regularly until her health began to fail. Her family and the church were the center of Ginny’s life.

Her memory will be cherished by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Jackie Scott of Maineville, Ohio and Mark and Lori Scott of Eden Park, stepdaughters Linda (John) Miller of Georgetown, Kentucky and Marcia Nourse of West Carrollton, Ohio, a brother, Willard (Elaine) Myers of Alabama and a sister, Janet Warner of Wheelersburg. She also leaves behind grandchildren Dean (Dawn) Scott, Jr., Brandi Scott, Wendy (Steve) Behrle, Andrew Scott, and Tyler Scott; step-grandchildren, Chris Miller, Jason (Jennifer) Miller, Joshua (Hannah) Adkins, Sarah Adkins, and Rebekah (Andy) McCloud; 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Ginny will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN PORTSMOUTH, with Dennis Dawes officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Portsmouth from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Because of their great care for both body and spirit, in lieu of flowers, Ginny would wish for contributions to be made to SOMC Hospice or Central Church of Christ.
