Sally Bates
December 19, 1936 — October 31, 2015
Sally Joan Bates, 78, of Sciotoville, died Saturday, October 31, 2015, at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born on December 19, 1936 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Cora Belle Colley Nichols and was a member of Community Church of Jesus Christ in Highland Bend.
Joan was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bates, a daughter, Cora Belle Johnson, a brother, Robert Gene Nichols and a sister, Mary Maxine Penix.
Surviving are two daughters, Tawana (Paul) Seibert of Sciotoville and Shannon Selvaggio of Daytona Beach, Fla; seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Elder Richard Clark officiating. Interment will be in Haverhill Cemetery. The family will receive guests at Brant’s after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
