Robert F. Bussler, 68, of Sciotoville, died Tuesday, September 02, 2014, at his home. Born on August 1, 1946 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Frank Bussler and Marie Bussler Flake and a retired chemical operator for Sunoco. Bob was an Air Force veteran of the Viet Nam War and a 1965 graduate of East High School.
Also preceding him in death were his stepfather, Milton Flake, a sister, Janet Wright, and a cousin, Tim Bussler.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Johns Bussler, a son, William (Kristy) Bussler of Minford; a daughter, Dianne Rutherford of Portsmouth; a brother, Jim (Stephanie) Flake of Wheelersburg; three sisters, Mary (Gerald) Maxwell of Georgia, Carolyn (Fred) Bobst of Lucasville and Betty (David) Baldrich of Florida; many nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special nephew, Douglas Wright of Sciotoville. Also surviving are six grandchildren, James Bussler, Luke Rutherford, Makayla Bussler, Allison Hoover, Deanna Hoover and Holly Bussler.
Bob was born, raised and made his home in the Portsmouth area. He enjoyed making knives and was an avid outdoorsman. Bob’s passion in life was helping his fellow man and was, more often than not, found at the neighbor’s houses building kitchen cabinets or helping with projects. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by many dear friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Rev. Rick Arthur officiating. Military honors will be rendered at the funeral home by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion following the service. The family will receive friends at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
