Raymond G. "Curly Joe" Brown

Raymond G. “Curly Joe” Brown, 81, died Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.  Born on August 10, 1941 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Noah and Hannah Ockerman Brown and was a member of the Wheelersburg Baptist Church. 

Curly Joe was a 1960 graduate of East High School, an Army veteran, and a retired steel worker from Armco Steel.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Hafer Brown; a daughter, Pammie (Jim) Kurtz of Wheelersburg; his “other daughter”, Carla “Susie” (Lee) Phillips; a brother, Albert “Jock” (Mary) Brown of West Portsmouth; two sisters, Evelyn (Roy) Butts of Wheelersburg and Marilyn (David) Fisher of Wheelersburg; a granddaughter, Michelle (Darrick) Tackett of Wheelersburg; two great grandsons, Joshua Ray and Braxton Tackett, and several nieces and nephews. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Brad Brandt officiating.  Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park with military honors by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion.
