Randall Adkins

October 5, 1955 — June 2, 2015

Randall Paul Adkins, 59, of Rosemount, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the SOMC Hospice Center.  Born on October 5, 1955 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Paul and Emma Martin Adkins and attended Bonser Run Christian Baptist Church.

Randy was employed in the maintenance department at the Southern Ohio Medical Center, was a former member of the carpenter’s union and was a 1973 graduate of Minford High School and Vo-tec.

He was a former fire chief for Rosemount Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Ohio Valley Firefighter’s Association.

Also preceding Randy in death were a brother, Mark Adkins, and a sister, Denise Hambrick.

Surviving are his wife, Christie Young Adkins, whom he married April 10, 1999, his children, Jennifer Caulley of Portsmouth, Jamie (Rick) Gambill of Otway, Mark (Chris Fenimore) Adkins of Columbus, Bethany (David) Dederich of Yuma, Arizona and Brandon Smith of Portsmouth; a brother, Scott (Donna) Adkins of Portsmouth; two sisters, Glenda (“Shorty” Rotenberry) Cordle of Portsmouth and Susan Yvette (Brian) Sherman of Sciotoville; seven grandchildren, Travis, Austin, Tori, Ricky, Noah, Jackson and Carlee and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Danny Deck officiating.  Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.  The family will receive guests at Brant’s in Sciotoville from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday.  Honors will be rendered by the Ohio Valley Firefighter’s Association Honor Guard.  Memorial contributions may be made to the SOMC Cancer Center.
