Ollie Jones, Jr., 83, of Portsmouth, was called home to be with Jesus on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born June 9, 1928 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Ollie Jones, Sr. and Goldie Sparks Jones, and was a retired carman for the Norfolk and Western Railroad with 42 years of service. Ollie was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the James Dickey Post of the American Legion, Portsmouth Eagles and Portsmouth Moose. Also preceding him in death were his wife, Emma Jean Coriell Jones in 1997, and two brothers, Maynard and Gaylord Jones. Surviving are three sons, Joey (Lesley) Jones, Jeffrey Jones and Jack (Peggy) Jones, all of Portsmouth, a daughter, Kimberly (Rich) Washington of Pickerington, a sister, Louise Standafer of Dayton, 5 grandchildren, Adam Washington, Robin Quevedo, Sarah Montgomery, Jeffrey Jones and Aaron Jones, and four great-grandchildren, Gavin Montgomery, Braiden Montgomery, Braxton Jones and Lillian Washington. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Kevin Yeager, minister, officiating. Interment will be in Siloam (KY) Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Portsmouth 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
