Naomi Craft Boyd, 91, of Wheelersburg, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Storypoint North in Powell. Born on December 19, 1933, in Sciotoville, she was a daughter of Luther Craft, Sr. and Rev. Hattie Williams Craft Wright.
Naomi and Raymond D. Boyd were married on April 22, 1956, in Portsmouth by the Rev. Dewey Wright.
Surviving is a daughter, Bethany Boyd Chumley of Dublin; two grandchildren, Caitlin (Oleg) Yarovinski of Decatur, GA and Alex Johnson of Denver, CO; a special great-granddaughter, Charlotte Yarovinski; several nieces and nephews; three step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Julie Elaine Johnson; four brothers, Luther O. Craft, Jr., Robert R. Craft, William C. Craft and Michael D. Craft and son-in-law, Tony Chumley.
Naomi was a graduate of Wheelersburg High School and received her Bachelor of Education and her Master of Education from Ohio University.
She was a stenographer for the Detroit Steel Corp., retired as a teacher from the Portsmouth City Schools in 1997 and attended the Porter Free Will Baptist Church for more than 50 years.
A Celebration of Naomi’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Mark Price officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7th.
At the family’s request, memorial donations may be made to Porter Free Will Baptist Church, 1343 Dixon Mill Road, Portsmouth, OH 45662.
