Mitchell Curtis Collins

Mitchell C. Collins, 66, of Jackson, died Monday, April 17, 2023 at his home.  Born on November 24, 1956 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Merle and Helen Ramey Collins.

Mitchell served as a crypto linguist in the U.S. Marines, where he read, spoke and taught Russian.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Collins.

Surviving are his daughter, Angel (Ed) Johnson; two brothers, Merle (Jeanee) Collins and Darryl (Marty) Collins; five grandchildren; three stepbrothers, Joseph, Scott and Adam; four stepsisters, Crystal, Amanda, Lori and Kelley, and several nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22nd, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Phillip Minich officiating.  Interment will be in Bailey Chapel Cemetery, with military honors by the James Irwin Post #622 and William Baker Post #363.

The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The flags on the avenue, along with the United States Marine flag are flying in honor of our brave veteran, Mitchell Collins.
