Lois Grose

July 6, 1926 — January 9, 2017

Lois Babb Grose, 90, of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the SOMC Hospice Center with her devoted husband, Lowell and her loving family at her side.

She was born and raised in Manchester, the daughter of the late Anthony and Dorothy Dening Babb.  Lois worked her way through college and earned a B.S. and M.S. from Ohio University.

In 1946, she met the love of her life and they married in 1953 and raised two daughters, Lisa and Lori in Eden Park.  They shared many interests and could frequently be found on the Shawnee golf course and playing cards with their many friends.

Lois was a teacher in New Boston and Portsmouth from 1946 – 1989.  She was also active in the Valley United Methodist Church, D.A.R., Shawnee State Golden Bears, 1810 House and the League of Women Voters.

Survivors include her husband, Lowell, two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Mike Stinziano and Lori and Bob Chrisman, a granddaughter, Michaelena and her daughter Gianna, a grandson, Michael Stinziano and wife Caroline and their children Cooper and Riley, all living in the Columbus area.

With her lifelong passion for reading, the family request donations to the Portsmouth Library Bookmobile and to the SOMC Hospice for their outstanding care.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pete Shaffer and Richard North officiating.  Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.

The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
