Lillian Carol Smith, 97, formerly of Sciotoville, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, in Butler. Born April 28, 1913 on Bonser Run Road in Sciotoville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Gracie Toland Martin. Lillian was a member of the Bonser Run Christian Baptist Church and it’s Ladies’ Prayer Circle. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Merdy J. Smith in 1976, sons Merdy L. Smith and Hobert Smith, daughters Marietta Cooper and Carol Ann Justice and granddaughter, Teresa, whom she raised. Surviving are 3 sons, Arnold W. Smith of Portsmouth, Jack (Ellen) Cooper of Wheelersburg, and Donald (Vickie) Smith of Clarktown; 3 daughters, Pauline (Allie) Boggs of Toledo, Janie (Glen) Dixon with whom she resided, and Rosetta (Monty) Thompson of Haverhill; a brother, Charles Eugene Martin of Wheelersburg; a sister, Charlotte Dunham of Wheelersburg; 45 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Bonser Run Christian Baptist Church with Pastor Gordon Boggs and associates officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
