Katherine Marie Stapleton

Katherine Marie Stapleton passed away on June 17, 2024, at The Ohio State Medical Center, surrounded by her devoted family and friends. Born on November 3, 1980, in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of Darrell Lee Stapleton and Kimberly McCann Stapleton, who survive.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Robert and Betty McCann and Jack and Janet Stapleton. 

Kat is also survived by her children, Kelsee Neff and Kaysen Neff, her siblings, Jennifer Stapleton, Deborah (Eric) Dingess, Angela (Adam) Bailey, and Jonathan (Ashlee) Stapleton, as well as her nieces and nephews, Wyatt Dingess, Jessica (Dominique) Johnson, Chandler (Jessica) Dingess, Sydney (Kennedy Smith) Dingess, Savannah (Brooke Kazee) Dingess, Dustin Bailey, Jacob Stapleton, and Olivia Stapleton, great-nieces Amelia and Jemma Johnson and Soraya and Serenity Brown and great-nephews Joseph Johnson and Jaxon Dingess, who will also greatly miss their Kat-Kat. Also survived by uncles, Bobby (Pam) McCann, Michael (Edie) Stapleton, and Mark McCann, and aunts, Jackie (Brian) Enz and Rebecca (Michael) Albrecht, plus many loving cousins, including her special cousin, Britni McCann. She would also want her friend, Tobias Miller, remembered.

Kat was a 1999 graduate of East High School and was a devoted Tartan her entire life. She worked in the cafeteria at East High School for many years and was the bowling coach for several years. Katie was loved by her colleagues (Ohana), her students, and her friends. Kat was very active in Sciotoville Little League, worked in all concession stands, was “head cheerleader” for all East Sports, and was most famous as the cow bell ringer for all games, and occasionally made to the leave the game. She loved so many people and had such a big heart that there was always room for more.

A Celebration of Kat’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22nd, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Brian Enz officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.

The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
