Joyce Ann Schiltz

Joyce Ann Schiltz, 86, died Monday, October 31, 2022, in her home.  Born on June 17, 1936, she was a daughter of the late John Cecil Duncan and Maggie Sparks Duncan.

Also preceding her in death were her husband, whom she married in 1955, Frederick Schiltz, who died in 1998; a daughter, Diana Lanthorn; a sister, Barbara Jean Lewis; and a grandson, Michael P. Schiltz.

Joyce Ann was a 1954 graduate of Portsmouth High School, formerly worked at Williams Shoe Factory for many years, and later worked as assistant administrator for Flannery’s Nursing Home and Golden Years.  She lived in Portsmouth much of her life, later moving to Columbus from 2003 to 2012, and then moved on to Ft. Mill and Columbia, SC from 2012-2022, living with her sons.

Her life focused on raising her family and providing a nice home.

Surviving are her sons, David and Michael; four grandchildren, Kendra, Stacy, Hali and Timothy; six great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Makayla, Seianna, Aspen, Aurora and Kinleigh; her sister’s granddaughter, Ginny Lewis, whom she considered a granddaughter and a cousin and close friend, Barbara Flannery, of South Shore, KY.

A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE.  Interment will be next to her husband in Worley’s Run Cemetery in Friendship.
