John Day

December 20, 1933 — December 27, 2015

John “Tater” Day, 82, of West Portsmouth, died Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Hempstead Manor.  Born on December 20, 1933 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Martha Butler Day and was of the United Pentecostal faith.

Tater is survived by three brothers and two sisters, Harold (Dottie) Day of West Portsmouth, with whom he resided for many years, Charles (Anna) Day of Portsmouth and Howard (Susan) Day of Lexington, KY; Doris Thompson and Elva (Jim) Thompson, all of Portsmouth, and a sister-in-law, Janie Day of Dayton.  John is also survived by many nieces and nephews who dearly loved him.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, Gene Day and two sisters, Pauline Day and Dixie Briggs.

John’s passion in life was going to church to sing, and enjoyed praying for anybody that would ask him to pray for them.  He will be missed by many.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 31st, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Tim Loper, Jr. and Randy Schintzius officiating.  Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park.

The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
