Jesse Foster

Jesse W. Foster, 76, of Portsmouth, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on June 8, 1936 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Harvey and Emma Hayslip Foster, and retired in 2002 as a supervisor for the Department of Human Services. Jesse also was a volunteer at the Rosemount Fire Department for 19 years, where he served as fire chief from 1975-1979, and was a former member of the Mims, Texas Fire Department. He was member of Aurora Masonic Lodge #48, a member of the Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite, former member of the Ashland, KY, El Hasa Shrine Temple, member of the Ore City, TX, masonic lodge, and a member of the Waco Texas Scottish Rite for 25 years. Jesse was also a member of the Moose Lodge and attended Minford Community Church until he became ill. Surviving are his wife, Louella Jean Foster, whom he married in 1954, two sons, David (Kathy) Foster of Loveland, Col. And Karl (Tracy) Foster of Longview, TX; three daughters, Sheree (Dan) Burkhardt of South Webster, Cathy (Roger) Knauff of Lucasville and Nancy (John) Blewett of Wheelersburg; a sister, Joyce (Harvey) Waters of Palatka, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A service was held for the family on Wednesday at the ADKINS-BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN PORTSMOUTH with Pastor Ed Cox officiating. Interment was in South Webster Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice.
