James Ronald “Ron” Neal, Sr., age 76, of Wheelersburg passed away peacefully into the arms of The Lord on February 24, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on December 27, 1949, he was the son of the late Harold H. Neal, Sr. and Belvia Adaline Gibson Neal. Ron proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Carol Lynn Fannin Neal, as well as his parents; three brothers, Dennis “Denny” Neal, Mike Neal, and Ray Neal; his mother-in-law, Doris Dean Fannin and sister-in-law, Deborah Jo Fannin Smart.
Ron is survived by his cherished children, James Ronald “Bub” Neal Jr. (Rita), Jamie Jo Courtney, and Michelle Neal, two brothers, Harold “Shorty” Neal, Sr, (Jean) and Tim Neal (Myra). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Kylie Jo Vastine, Zachary Cole (Julianna) Neal, and Kole Jaycob Vastine, and Navaeh Jo Mosley, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ron will be remembered for his humor, character, and loving heart. His family and friends will carry his memory forward, cherishing the laughter and love he shared.
With over 30 years of service at Aristech Chemical Plant, Ron was dedicated to his work and enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including hunting, fishing, building projects, tinkering with cars, and listening to country music. Above all, he valued the time spent with his family and friends, filling those moments with laughter and joy.
A service to honor Ron will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Brant Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by William A. Baker Post #363 of Lucasville and James Irwin Post #622 of Minford of the American Legion. The family will welcome guests from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Brant’s on Friday.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, STNAs, and the staff at Rosemount Pavilion for their compassionate care for Ron during his final days, as well as to SOMC Hospice for their support and the USSA Adult Daycare Center staff.
