Hilda Morrison

Hilda M. Morrison, 93, of Sciotoville, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born at home in Sciotoville on November 23, 1918, she was the daughter of the late William “Pop” and Bertha Mae Allard Price and retired from teaching at Harding Elementary after 37 years of service. Hilda was the oldest member of the Sciotoville Christian Church. In 1936, she graduated as valedictorian from Sciotoville High School, the same honor three of her grandchildren received from the same school. She also earned degrees from Rio Grande College, summa cum laude, and The Ohio State University. Always active, she played tennis, bowled and loved to ride her bicycle. At 27, a spontaneous adventure began with two friends as they rode their bicycles from Sciotoville to Chicago, Illinois. After several days of sightseeing, they rode back, averaging 100 miles per day. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Morrison, a brother, Donald Price, and a nephew, Michael Price. Hilda is survived by two sons, Bill (Judy) Morrison of Saginaw, MI and David Lee (Amy) Morrison of Slocum Station, 4 grandchildren, Eric, Jane, Sherrie and Joseph Morrison, a great-granddaughter, Cecilia and a nephew, Don (Margie) Price. A funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Art Marcum and Josh Book officiating. Interment will be in Old Wheelersburg Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Sciotoville from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice.
