Hearst Meadows

d. December 11, 2012

Hearst F. (Skip) Meadows passed to his heavenly home on December 11, 2012 with his family at his side. He was born in Middleport, OH on May 22, 1938 to the late Hearst F. Meadows and Agnes (Moore) Meadows. He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 54 years, Sybil (Williams) Meadows. He was a wonderful father who guided his children by the truest example of love and sacrifice. His children are, Rebecca (Bill) Nichols, Pamela (Ross) Scaggs , Jeff (Mary Beth) Meadows, and Kimberly (Todd) Jarvis. The lights of his life were his grandchildren, Amy (Rob) Holsinger, Jessica, J.T., and Jillian Meadows, Meredith (Bobby) Greene, Braxton and Bergen Jarvis and great grand-children Jay, Drew, and Emma Holsinger. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanie (Ralph) Frazie. He leaves behind a wonderful extended family consisting of brothers-in-laws, sisters- in-law, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews who relied on his trust and most importantly his laughter and support. His very special great Aunt Ala, also survives him.

Skip was Co-Founder and President of Colonial Carpet House for 27 years. After selling the company in 1995, he remained a senior consultant with Rite Rug until 2012. His expertise in the field of business was one of remarkable work ethic and management. He was a member of the Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce.

Skip's love of music opened many doors. As a young man at West High School, he had many opportunities to sing at various colleges, The Ohio State Fair and The White House. He used his talents as choir director at many local churches to guide congregations through music ministry.

He had a passion for athletics and was an avid Pirate and Buckeye fan. As a young boy, he began to caddy at the Portsmouth Elks Country Club which evolved into a passion for the game of golf. That passion continued over 50 years. His love of endless summer days gave him great pleasure and relaxation.

The celebration of Skip's life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 14th at Sciotodale Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Brian White and Dr. Brett Travis officiating. Visitation will be on December 13 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville, Ohio. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to SOMC Hospice at 2203 25th Street, Portsmouth OH 45662 and The Youth Ministry of Faith Baptist Church, 7950 Gallia Street Wheelersburg OH 45694

The family would like to thank the caregivers Lisa Williams, Linda Charles, Alice Charles, and Virginia Weaver and Hospice for their tireless commitment to the care provided during these challenging times. Appreciation is also extended to the countless friends and relatives who gave special comforts to the family throughout this trying period.

"And surely I am with you always, to the very end of time. I will strengthen, assist, and direct you.” Matthew 28:20
