Harold E. Hamilton, 96, of Portsmouth, died Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Born October 8, 1914 in Rome, OH, he was a son of the late Jesse and Ethel Smith Hamilton, was a well-known area roofer and chauffeur, and was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church. Also preceding him in death were a son, Donald Lewis Hamilton, brothers, Kenneth and Paul Hamilton and sisters Cora Belle Hamilton and Norene Kennard. Surviving are his wife, Betty J. Smith Hamilton, a son, Harold “Dave” (Elsa) Hamilton of Royal Oak, MI; a daughter, Diana (Jim) Musick of Portsmouth, grandchildren, Tracy (Alan) Lindner, Brandi (Jim) Stedding, Jamie (David) Blower, Jennie Hamilton, Andrew Hamilton, Alex Hamilton and Matt Hamilton and great-grandchildren, Bryce Hill, Madison Sowards, Christopher and Jason Stedding, Kristian Gerwig, Tatem and Brock Linder, Caleigh and Ethan Blower. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Clark Hess and Rev. Kym James officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Portsmouth 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone United Methodist Church.
