Gene Hollis

Phillip Gene Hollis, 76, of Portsmouth, died Monday, January 28, 2013, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center. Born on November 18, 1936 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late William and Verna Smith Hollis, and was a former sales clerk at Party Connection. Gene was an Army veteran and previously employed at Empire-Detroit Steel Corporation and Gilbert Grocery. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, William, Jr., Richard and Roger Hollis. Surviving are a brother, Glen (Bonnie) Hollis of Camp Bennett and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Clint Sheets II officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Sciotoville after 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
