Freida James

Freida Mae James, 84, of Hill View, died Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Hill View Health Care. Born on October 26, 1931 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Mattie Ruth Kuhner and was a retired scrub nurse at the former Mercy Hospital.
Freida attended the First Church of God in New Boston and was active in the Minford Garden Club and the Red Hat Society.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Dr. Donavan James, a brother, Paul Kuhner, twins, and a grandson, Scott Barnett.
Surviving are two sons, Brian (Nancy) James of Pedro and Bradley James of Minford; two daughters, Beth (Terry) Barnett of Ashville, NC and Becky (Brian) Cornwell of Hilliard; six grandchildren, Adam (Gretchen) James, Kelly (Mike) Long, Amanda Cornwell, Brian Cornwell, Abbey (Kevin) Eldridge and Michael Barnett; and three great-grandchildren, Emma Lynn James, Charlee Long and Samuel Long.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22nd, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE. Interment will be in the South Webster Cemetery.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
