Fred Hieneman

October 17, 1920 — February 9, 2016

Fred Hieneman, 95, of Sciotoville, died Tuesday, February 09, 2016, at the SOMC Hospice House.  Born on October 17, 1920 in Greenup County, KY, he was a son of the late William and Mollie Farmer Hieneman and was a roller at the former Detroit Steel Corporation.  Fred was a member of the Sciotoville Christian Church for 66 years, and was a member of Western Sun Masonic Lodge and Valley of Cincinnati Scotish Rite.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed loafing with the “old timers” at Cline Jenkins.

Fred was proud that he served in the Navy during World War II.

Also preceding him in death were his wife, Kathryn Garvey Hieneman, four brothers, Hoarce, Maurice, Harvey and Carl; and six sisters, Ella, Regina, Deana, Ruth, Carrie and Kate.

Surviving are two sons, James (Diana) Hieneman of Hilliard and David (Michelle) Hieneman of Elida; three daughters, Joyce (Roger) Gregory of Wheelersburg, Donna (Steve) Chinn of Merritt Island, Fla. and Jean Carver of Portsmouth; twelve grandchildren, Stephanie Gregory, Susan Vanderpool, Michelle Donaldson, Paula Hogan, Larry Hieneman, Shannon Bauer, Shawn Hieneman, Tad Hieneman, Julia Smith, Michele Mayes, Jennifer Amiet and Jamie Carver; thirty-six great-grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Fred’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 12th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Brian Enz officiating.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion.  The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.  A masonic service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sciotoville Christian Church.
