Elizabeth “Libby” (Martin) Artis, age 83, of Sciotoville, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026 at Concord Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born on September 28, 1942, Libby was a devoted wife, mother, and “Gram”.

Libby was preceded in death by her parents, Elton Martin and Martha (Strickland) Martin; her siblings, Jean Munyon, Ray Martin, Mary Bowling, Faye Payton, and Bonnie Lewis; her beloved husband, Chester Terry Artis Jr.; a daughter, Victoria (Artis) Beckett; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Johnson.

She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Libby worked for many years at Wal-Mart and proudly retired from the company. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, and reading countless books and magazines. She had a special love for anything related to butterflies, especially butterfly jewelry, and collecting Raggedy Ann and Andy memorabilia which brought her great joy.

Libby is survived by her children: Deitra Gill of Mesa, Arizona, Mike (Alexandra) Artis of Wheelersburg, and a son-in-law Mark Beckett of Wheelersburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Shannon (Bobby) Hubbard of West Portsmouth, Josh (Megan) Artis of Portsmouth, and Jeremy and Sarah Johnson of Mesa, Arizona. Her three great-grandchildren: Lexie (Martin) Ruggles, Alex (Mikina) Hubbard, and Rowan Artis; and her four great-great-grandchildren: Cheyenne, Maddie, River, and Paisley. One special girl, Brynlee who she loved reading too.

Libby will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her love and legacy will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.

A service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service on Friday, July 24th at Brant’s.
