Elbert Stiltner

April 5, 1935 — February 2, 2014

Elbert “Red” Stiltner, 78, of Vanceburg, KY, formerly of Sciotoville, died Sunday, February 2, 2014, at the SOMC Hospice House.  Born on April 5, 1935 in Sciotoville, he was a son of the late Fred and Minnie Messer Stiltner, was retired from the former Imperial Vault Company and was a member of Harvest Chapel in Garrison, KY.  Also preceding Red in death were a daughter, Tuge Joanna Holdren, and brothers and sisters, Irene Stiltner, Charles “Chug” Stiltner, Donald Stiltner, Fred Stiltner, Jr. and Hiram “Moke” Stiltner.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Billy Joann Caldwell Stiltner, whom he married on August 25, 1951, their children, Elbert “Buster” (Betty) Stiltner, Jr. of Garrison, KY, Clyde (Kathy) Stiltner, of Sciotoville, Danny (Vickie) Stiltner, Julia Kay (Marty) McCoy, Tina (Ron) Greene, Jr. and Carl (Mysti) Stiltner, all of Portsmouth, a son-in-law, William Holdren of Sciotoville, 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, a soon-to-be great-great grandchild.  Red is also survived by “Man’s Best Friend”, Booger.

A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Mt. Zion Cemetery in South Shore, KY with Rev. Clarence Hall officiating.  The funeral procession will leave Brant’s at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday.

The family will receive friends at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.  Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice.
