Edward Norman Jacobs, Sr., 90, of Springfield Masonic Community, formerly of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at his masonic residence. Born on January 23, 1926 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Edward and Irene Brown Jacobs, and was a retired pipefitter for Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Ed was a proud member of Aurora Masonic Lodge #48, Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite and El Hasa Shrine in Ashland, KY.
He honorably served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
Also preceding him in death was his wife, Ruth Charles Jacobs, in 2011.
Surviving are a son, Edward (Donna) Jacobs, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA; three grandchildren, Tracy (Ray) White, Christine (Scott) Smith and Jason Jacobs; and four great-grandchildren, Haley Smith, Jacob Smith, Bailey MacDonald and Jessica MacDonald.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park with military honors by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday. A masonic service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Salvation Army.
