Edna Sexton

May 10, 1922 — February 9, 2017

Edna Louise Sexton, 94, of Portsmouth, died Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Heartland of Portsmouth.  Born on May 10, 1922 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Tranie McCann.  Edna was a former presser at the Echo Dry Cleaners and a member of the North Moreland Christian Baptist Church.

Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Joyce Phillips; three brothers, Roy, Bud and Ora McCann; four sisters, May Brigner, Myrtle Norris, Irene Lykins and Ruth Hensley; grandchildren, Kenny and Timmy Phillips, and Tony Fannin; and a great grandson, Todd Schwalbach.

Surviving are a son, Randall A. Sexton at home; a daughter, Mona Eichenlaub of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Penny Chamberlin, Tanya Ratcliff, Jessie Fannin and Terra Fannin; six great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kacey, Zack, Blake, Gabby, and Kenny.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Rev. Paul Hagen officiating.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive guests at Brant’s from Noon until 2:00 p.m. on Monday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the SOMC Hospice.
