Edna Kegley

Edna “Jean” Kegley, 86, of West Union, formerly of Friendship, died November 4, 2011 at SOMC Hospice Center of Portsmouth. She was born on June 25, 1925 in Otway to the late Jacob and Bessie (Free) Loevenguth. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Elwood Kegley, five brothers: Phillip, Oscar, John, Jake, and Mac Loevenguth, and four sisters: Wilma Rice, Ada Hampton, Nola Dotson, Mary White. Surviving are two daughters; Judith (Jack) Hazelbaker of Blue Creek and Debra (Greg) Coburn of Wheelersburg, one son, David (Carolyn) Kegley of Friendship, nine grandchildren Amy (Jason) Coleman, Bryan (Amy) Hazelbaker, Jody Kegley, Jeremy (ReShanta) Hazelbaker, Jennifer (Mike) Newman, Kyle (Andrea) Kegley, Mandy (Clark) Delabar, Matt Coburn, Ali Coburn, ten great-grandchildren, one brother Roger (Shirley) Loevenguth of Rock Hill and one sister in law Kathryn Hopkins of Portsmouth. Jean worked at Shelby Shoes, Kegley’s Grocery, Shawnee Lodge, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Friendship United Methodist Church, Friendship Methodist Women’s Group 2 and a member of the American Legion Auxillary. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2011 at Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Gary Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Portsmouth from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
