Chester Terry Artis, Jr., 84, of Sciotoville, died Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Ohio State University Medical Center.  Born on March 19, 1931 in Sciotoville, he was a son of the late Chester Terry Artis, Sr. and Victoria Tackett Artis.

Terry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was a retired foreman from OSCO Industries, a graduate of East High School, was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a Navy veteran and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War Era.

Also preceding him in death were brothers, Louis and Daniel Artis, and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Johnson.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Martin Artis; a son, Christopher Michael Terry (Alex) Artis of Wheelersburg; two daughters, Deitra (Rick) Gill of Mesa, Arizona and Victoria (Mark) Beckett of Wheelersburg; a sister, Neva Artis of Phoenix, Arizona; and four grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Shannon (Bobby) Hubbard, Sarah Johnson and Joshua Artis.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military rites by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion.

The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.  Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
