Cheryl Lynne Porter

Cheryl Lynne Porter, aged 67, of Sciotoville, peacefully departed this life on September 22, 2025, at SOMC Hospice Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 17, 1958, in Portsmouth, she was the cherished daughter of Adrian Wood and Juanita Ruth Elrod Sluder. Cheryl was a proud graduate of East High School and was deeply involved in her community, serving as an avid Minford Band Booster for many years. Professionally, she worked as the Office Manager at Memorial Burial Park for 48 years and attended the Little Sandy Baptist Church in Greenup, KY.

She was preceded in death by her father, Adrian Wood Sluder.

Cheryl is survived by her beloved husband, David Porter; her son, Adam (Alicia) Porter of Sciotoville; her daughter, Layna (Chris) Leightenheimer of Wheelersburg; her mother, Juanita Ruth Sluder of Minford; and her four grandchildren, Adaleigh, Aiken, Leah, and Ethan.

A Celebration of Cheryl's Life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26th, at Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville, with Pastor Tim Wright officiating. Cheryl will be laid to rest at Memorial Burial Park.

The family invites friends to honor Cheryl's memory during visitation at Brant’s on Thursday, September 25th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
