Carrie Alberta Brant, 92, of Sciotoville, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at her home. Born June 20, 1918 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Earl Brant and Mellie Mullen Brant Kuhner. Carrie was a very active member of the Sciotoville Church of the Nazarene, where she served as president of the missionary society for over 40 years, and was a payroll clerk at the former Williams Manufacturing Co. and Mercy Hospital. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Lon Brant, Earl Brant and Billy Kuhner and sisters, Elizabeth Brant, Marjorie Weghorst, Georgia Filkins, Jessie Kuhner and Bettie Turner. Surviving are a sister, Esther Schwamberger of Sciotoville, a brother-in-law, Henry Turner of Wheelersburg, three nieces and three nephews. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Sciotoville Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Chad Garinger and Rev. Ed Myers officiating. Interment will be in Brant-Crum Cemetery in South Webster. The family will receive friends at the Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sciotoville Church of the Nazarene and SOMC Hospice.
