Brenda Sue Rooney, 69, of Portsmouth, died Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Born on May 30, 1953 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of Audrea Carol Steed Mitchell of Portsmouth and the late Vaughn Mitchel.

Brenda graduated from Beavercreek High School and Shawnee State University, was a retired registered nurse from the Southern Ohio Medical Center and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband, Wayne A. Rooney; three sons, Kris (Laura) Schultz of Liberty Township, Karl (Laura) Schultz of Portsmouth and Patrick (Kristen) Rooney of Portsmouth; two brothers, Dave (Debbie) Mitchell and Greg Mitchell, all of Xenia; a sister, Terry Caldwell of Xenia and seven grandchildren, Kaylor, Nolan, Miller, Ashley, Travis, Jackson and Legend.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive guests at BRANT’S from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Nursing Honors will be provided by the Nurse Honor Guard of the River Cities.
