Betty Louise McClurg, 95, of West Portsmouth, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Hempstead Manor. Born on July 12, 1915 in Lewis County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Anna Renchen Truesdell. Louise was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans and former member of the Garrison and Coles Boulevard United Methodist Churches. She was formerly employed at the former U.S. Shoe in Vanceburg, Williams Mfg. Co. and Munitions Factories in Cleveland and Dayton during WWII. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Chalmer S. McClurg and three sisters, Ethel Kennedy, Kathryn Truesdell, and Gladys Shaw. Surviving are three nieces, Kathy (Sylvan) Davis of West Portsmouth, Audrey (Paul) Cunningham of Vanceburg, KY, and Phyllis Shaw of Friendship, two nephews, Arnold Cunningham of Vanceburg, KY and Carl (Eloise) McClurg of West Portsmouth, three great nieces, Amber Davis, Anna Davis, and Tina (Brad) Whitt, all of West Portsmouth, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Louise enjoyed, cooking, fishing, hunting, gardening, camping, reading, Cincinnati Reds baseball, UK basketball, but mostly visiting with family and friends. A graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Waring Cemetery in Garrison, KY with Pastor Tami Coleman officiating.
