Betty Janet Tolle Bussa , 80, formerly of Rigrish Addition in Sciotoville, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Born on April 12, 1933 in Idaho, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late William and Olive Woods Scowden, was a member of the Sciotoville Christian Church and was formerly employed for GTE in Portsmouth as an operator and later as a service clerk.
Also preceding Betty in death were her husband, Alton Tolle, a daughter, Debra Barlowe, brothers James and Ronald Scowden, a sister, Virginia “Fern” Holdeman, a great-grandson, Jordan, and twin great-granddaughters, Alexis and Samantha.
Surviving are a daughter, Zetta (Steve) Brisker of Muscatine, Iowa; grandchildren Bill (Kim) Tolle of Minford, Shane (Michele) Brisker of Davenport, Iowa, Dia (Jim) Proctor of Moscow, Iowa, and Courtney Wynkoop of Maui, Hawaii; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Codie, McKenna, Regan, Ian, Kalli, Kaleb, Hannah, Michael and Dara.
Also survivors include a brother, Richard (Bertha) Scowden of Peebles, a sister, Sharon (Terry) Williams of Peebles, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Mike Simpson officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Adams County. The family will receive friends at Brant’s from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Alzheimer’s research, Breast Cancer research, or the Sciotoville Christian Church.
