Alma Beulah Wright

Alma Beulah Wright, 100, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, September 9, 2023, at BridgePort Healthcare Center.  Born on July 21, 1923, in Spruce Pine, NC, she was a daughter of the late Virgil and Kathrine Buchanan Cox.

Alma attended Harris High School in Spruce Pine, NC, a homemaker and attended Rubyville Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Wright, Jr., a daughter, Betty Grigsby, a brother, Ben Cox and a grandson, Chris Wright.

Surviving are two sons, Beecher (Sherry) Wright of Portsmouth and Thomas Wright of Chapin, SC, a daughter, Cathy Noles of Portsmouth, two sisters, Melba Lyons of Marion, NC and Jenella Walls of Charles City, VA, seven grandchildren, Shelley Nunley, Kathy (Andy) Zamer, Josie Mitchell, Nathaniel (Ashley) Wright, Rachael (Eric) Atkission, Abi (Josue Contreras) Grigsby and Jordan (Ana) Wright, fifteen great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Alma’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13^th at the Rubyville Community Church with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans, Jr. and Pastor Brian Baer officiating.  Interment will be in Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, KY.

The family will receive guests at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Arrangements are under the direction of the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE.
