Arnold Wesley Smith, 79, of Loveland, formerly of Sciotoville, died Thursday, November 21, 2019 in Goshen Township. Born on May 26, 1940 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Merdy and Lillian Martin Smith and was a retired salesman from Lowe’s. He was a member of Bonser Run Christian Baptist Church.
Arnie was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran and was a member of the James Dickey Post of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans Peerless Chapter, Portsmouth Moose and Portsmouth Eagles.
Also preceding him in death were brother Hobert and Merdy Smith and a sister, Carol Ann Smith.
Surviving are two sons, Wes Rich of Goshen and Jim (Destiny) Smith of Wheelersburg; two daughters, Charlotte Varney of South Webster and Angie (Brody) Haney of West Portsmouth; two brothers, Don Smith of Lucasville and Jack Cooper of Portsmouth; three sisters, Pauline Boggs of Toledo, Rosetta Thompson of Franklin Furnace and Janie Dixon of Butler and five grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by the James Dickey Post.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The flags on the avenue, along with the U.S. Air Force flag, will fly in honor of our proud veteran, Arnie Smith.
